Brazil
Can't defend takedown in loss
Lemos lost to Tatiana Suarez via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Noche on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Lemos had difficulty defending takedowns in the early part of her UFC run, so going up against an Olympic-level wrestler at age 38 was a recipe for potential disaster. The Brazilian actually did a decent job, stuffing 9-of-12 takedown attempts from Suarez, but the 9:34 worth of control time ensured it would be nearly impossible for Lemos to win a decision. The fact she took Round 3 on all three scorecards ended up not being enough. Lemos has alternated losses and wins in her past six fights dating back to November 2022 and she seems destined to hover around the .500 mark moving forward.

The 5-foot-4 Brazilian will look to win back-to-back fights for the first time since 2022 as she comes off a win versus Iasmin Lucindo back in March. Lemos is 2-2 in her last four matches which includes a loss in a title fight in 2023. She'll take on another title-match hopeful against Suarez, who lost the strawweight championship this past February.

Takes snoozer in Vegas
Lemos defeated Iasmin Lucindo via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 313 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Lemos entered as a +120 underdog and a loser of two of her past three bouts, so all she cared about was picking up a win by any means necessary. She did that in what was by far the most boring fight of the evening. Lemos closed with a 12-4 edge in significant strikes landed. In 15 minutes, the two women combined for 16 significant strikes. Amanda did land 3-of-5 takedowns for 7:58 worth of control time, but most of that was simply her using her upper-body strength to dominate positions. Neither combatant absorbed any real damage. Lemos, who will be 38 years of age in May, improves to 3-3 in her past half-dozen bouts.

Taps out in main event
Lemos lost to Virna Jandiroba via submission (armbar) at 4:48 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
An aging fighter known for her stand-up skills and power, Lemos is always going to be in trouble in a prolonged mat battle, especially against a talented submission specialist like Jandiroba. Lemos managed to fight off 4-of-5 takedown attempts from her opponent, but still spent 6:27 of this mat being controlled on the mat. She survived a rear-naked choke attempt from Jandiroba late in Round 3, but once Virna transitioned to the armbar, Lemos was done. Having turned 37 years of age this past May, Amanda is 3-3 in her past six fights dating back to April 2022. It goes without saying that's not going to get the job done.

Jandiroba up next
Lemos is scheduled to compete against Virna Jandiroba in a strawweight fight at UFC Vegas 94 on July 20, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Lemos will continue her path to another shot at strawweight gold by fighting Jandiroba in mid-July. Following Lemos' championship-bout defeat to Zhang Weili, the Brazilian bounced back by defeating Mackenzie Dern, who subbed in for Tatiana Suarez a month beforehand.
